Meet the Addis Alem Foundation

The Rafiki Exchange is honored to partner with the Addis Alem Foundation, a Christian nonprofit serving vulnerable individuals and families across Ethiopia.

The Addis Alem Foundation was founded on a simple conviction: every person is made in God's image and carries immeasurable worth. That belief drives everything they do as they serve people facing poverty, disability, and hardship. Their goal is not just to meet immediate needs but to help restore dignity and open the door to a better future by equipping people with skills, resources, and support that lasts.

Through education, vocational training, emergency assistance, family care, and community development, the Addis Alem Foundation confronts both the crisis in front of them and the bigger picture down the road.

Children receive help with school fees, uniforms, and supplies, allowing them to continue their education. Families in crisis receive food, shelter, medical care, and other essentials. Individuals with disabilities are given the tools and encouragement to take part in their communities. Women and caregivers enjoy the opportunity to learn skills that lead to sustainable work.

The handcrafted pieces they created for the Rafiki Exchange come from artisans whose work carries generations of Ethiopian craftsmanship. Every basket, textile, and handmade piece represents hours of skilled work and a story of perseverance, creativity, and second chances.
