Tanzanian Coffee Beans
Coffee from Tanzania has finally arrived!
Grown by Lake Victoria in Tanzania comes Rafiki Foundation’s newest product: Coffee!
This coffee is from the Tarime district in Northern Tanzania. Grown amongst the shade of the banana trees near Lake Victoria, these are fully washed, 100% Arabica beans, and are an AB grade. Once the beans arrive in the United States, they are carefully roasted in small batches to ensure maximum quality. The cupping notes in this roast boasts a balanced sweet and savory with tart acidity and a heavy mouthfeel; lots of sugary flavors with chocolate, cane sugar, raisin and lime flavors. This is a medium roast coffee. Each 12 ounce bag of whole coffee beans come to you straight from the Rafiki Foundation, and a portion of the proceeds from this product benefits disadvantaged women in Africa through Rafiki’s Widows Program. By purchasing a bag of this coffee you get to help widows in Africa, support local farmers in Tanzania, and get delightful cups of coffee for yourself to sip. What could be better?
Where is Tarime? Tarime is in the northern part of Tanzania, between the Serengeti and Lake Victoria. This remote area of the country is relatively self-governed by the local social groups and tribes, and most of the farmholders own between 2–8 hectares (about 5-20 acres) of land, growing coffee on about a quarter of their property. They also grow other cash crops as well as subsistence crops.
