About the Rafiki Exchange

The story of the Rafiki Exchange began with one woman—Rosemary Jensen. She and her husband became missionaries to Tanzania,
Africa in the 1950s with the goal of helping Africans know God and raise their standard of living.
Together, they formed the
Rafiki Foundation in 1985.

The Widows Program was Rafiki’s first program. Rafiki has always been passionate about helping women physically and spiritually through reliable, honorable work and the study of God’s Word.
We partner with widowed and single women who would otherwise struggle
to support themselves.

What started as one woman’s vision now impacts over a thousand women across ten African countries, giving them hope for the future. The women in our Widows Program make beautiful handmade products and study the Bible together. We buy their products upfront and sell them at our Rafiki Exchange shops and online store.

Every product purchased from the Rafiki Exchange is handcrafted by
an African woman and helps her provide for her family and learn
about God through His Word.
